History of
Kenosha County, Volume 1 – By Frank Lyman. Published in 1916 by the S.J. Clarke
Company as part of a larger series of Wisconsin county histories, Kenosha county is among the rarest. There are currently no other original
copies of this book being offered anywhere.
This copy is a duplicate from my collection and has been
professionally conserved. I treated it
with Cellugel to arrest the red rot acidification
and stabilize the leather. There was
minor chipping to the leather spine, but this has been
stabilized. The book is bound
in ¾ leather, has wonderful marbled end-papers and unlike many books in this series, still
retains its original leather binding.
Volume 1 contains the civic and cultural history of the county, while
volume 2 contains biographies of prominent citizens. The book contains a great deal of
interesting information about the founding of this important Wisconsin port
city and its maritime history. This
sale is for Volume 1 only. I am asking $100 for it plus $8 s/h as it is a large, heavy
book. For more
information about the S.J. Clarke series of Wisconsin Histories, see my
